HOW I HELP
These are the methods I trained in. You do not need to pick one. On the first call I will tell you which I think fits and why, in plain words.
WHAT I FOCUS ON
A spouse, a parent, a child, a friend of fifty years. We talk about the person, not only the feeling. Who they were, what is gone, what you still do out of habit for someone who is not there.
Retirement. A diagnosis. A body that stopped doing what it used to. A career that told you who you were until it ended. It counts, and it deserves the same attention.
Things you saw in uniform, on a shift, or on a night you do not talk about. When they still interrupt your sleep and your temper years later, that is not weakness. That is unfinished processing.
The specific loneliness of being around people who cannot picture the life you had. We work on what you actually want your days to contain now.
THE METHODS, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
A structured way of working with a memory that never got filed away properly. You bring the memory to mind in short pieces while doing something rhythmic with your eyes, your hands, or sound. Your brain does the sorting it did not get to do at the time.
WHAT IT FEELS LIKE
You do not have to tell the whole story out loud. Many people say the memory stays true but stops feeling like it is happening now.
GOOD FOR
Nightmares, flashbacks, a moment that plays on a loop, a body that reacts before you decide anything.
Instead of arguing with painful thoughts, we work on holding them more loosely and getting on with what matters to you anyway. We spend real time naming what you value, then building weeks that reflect it.
WHAT IT FEELS LIKE
Practical. Some of it is talking, some of it is short exercises, some of it is deciding what you are going to do between now and next week.
GOOD FOR
Feeling stuck, avoidance, the sense that life has narrowed down to getting through the day.
Some things are not symptoms. Death, freedom, being alone in your own experience, and whether any of it means anything. In later life these stop being abstract. I do not hand you an answer. I stay in the question with you.
WHAT IT FEELS LIKE
Slower conversations. Fewer worksheets. It suits people who think a lot and are tired of being told to be positive.
GOOD FOR
Mortality, regret, faith that shifted, working out what the rest of your life is for.
Fifty minutes, weekly, at the same time, by video, from wherever you are in Pennsylvania. Private pay, no insurance billing, and I tell you the fee before we book anything. Fifteen people a week is the whole practice.
